My husband cheated but I want to save my marriage. What should my next step be to save my marriage?
These questions are all too common in marriages today. More women are making the decisions to stand by their men. It isn't an easy decision by any means and sometimes there is a little reluctance on the part of the man to play along. The good news is that isn't always the problem you might think it is – especially if you learn how to change his mind and make him see the light on your side of the tunnel.
Many times the opposite is true. Women in your situation are out for blood or are ready to walk away from their marriages. It takes courage to be the one to stand up and say "I want to make my marriage work" even after your husband cheated on you. Bravo!
Now comes the hard part when you must roll up your sleeves and get busy making good things happen in order to save your marriage and stop your divorce right away.
Here are a few things you need to do to stop you divorce as quickly as possible.
1) Get your husband's attention. If you really want to make an impression and get him to pay attention to what you have to say, it's a great time to apologize. I know there's a part of you that is mad as a hatter right about now that your husband cheated but there is also a part of you that has gone over every detail of your marriage to see what you could have done that would have led him down that path. While it isn't your fault that he cheated, you've rehashed every mistake you've made in your marriage. Apologize for those mistakes. It will be the last thing he expects and it will throw him off balance making him more receptive to what you have to say next.
2) Ask your husband for forgiveness and offer your own forgiveness to him.
3) Consider a trial reconciliation. So many people suggest trial separations at a time like this. The fact that you are proposing something new and different is sure to get his attention and his curiosity. Curiosity is a powerful motivator. Use it to your advantage.
