How To Save A Marriage From Various Marital Problems

in Marriage

Marriage may have started with bliss, but bliss will not reign and occur in this relationship alone.  As spouses go through each day as a married couple, there are times when they feel happy and blessed being together; but there are also times when they feel as if marrying one another may have been a bad idea after all. While it is natural for marriage to undergo various problems, spouses should not consider such marital issues casually, if they want to save the relationship from doom.

Communication
Improper and lack of communication normally makes marriage in turmoil.  This communication issue tends to create misunderstandings between the couple.  Most often, spouses refuse to acknowledge the opinion of the other instead of bestowing understanding.  Couples need to spend time and effort in listening and understanding what each of them needs to say.  Understand one another by being willing to look at the world through the eyes of your spouse and not just your own eyes.

Unfulfilled Expectations
It is a fact that spouses have certain expectations of one another. When these expectations are not met accordingly, tension and problems arise. When expectations are not met, disappointments occur.  You know what your expectations are from your spouse, but it is highly possible that your spouse does not know what you expect from him. It is here where the problem originates.  Do not give in to frustrations merely because of lack of communication.
Tell your spouse what you want him to do before you expect him to actually do it. Also, always try to always have reasonable expectations; things that you know can actually be done by your spouse.  Moreover, if you have expectations of your spouse; remember that he also has his own expectations of you.
Unresolved Baggage
Misunderstanding in marriage also roots from unresolved conflicts that a person has had since his or her childhood.  Whatever experiences a person has during his youth will always have a great impact on his life, on his way of thinking, on his manner of communicating as he matures.  This is where communication is even more necessary. Understanding the person is more significant than ever.  It would be impossible to go back to the past to correct whatever wrong has influenced your mind and behavior; but there is always the present time to use as opportunity to tackle whatever unresolved issues there are with your spouse.  Responding to your spouse with a closed mind and lack of understanding will only lead your marriage in bigger problems.
Intimacy

Marriage is not complete without the consummation of love.  Intimacy is a crucial ingredient that binds husband and wife together, no matter what circumstances they go through.  Intimacy in bed can even sometimes create dissatisfaction or unfulfilled expectations.  No matter how busy you become with each other's career or work, you should always find time to spend quality time with each other. Being intimate does not only happen inside the bedroom. Intimacy can be shown even in little deeds of love and affection such as holding hands, kissing each other goodbye when leaving for work, etc. Such actions will help assure both of you of your love for one another.
